4 lb. polyethylene is a higher-density foam, meaning it has more mass per unit volume. Foam density is measured in pounds per cubic foot, so a 12-inch by 12-inch by 12-inch cube of 2 lb. foam should weight 2 lbs. Note: Density also is often confused with firmness.
